Mexico’s authorities are against accepting digital assets as legal tender

The Bank of Mexico and the National Banking and Securities Commission published a document earlier this year. According to this information, financial authorities warned citizens not to use digital coins.

The president has not often commented directly on this topic. President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador noticed that the country did not plan to follow El Salvador’s example by acquiring virtual coins like BTC as means of payment.

This week he highlighted that Mexico “must maintain orthodoxy” in the sphere of financial management. The country will not change its position on virtual assets.
